1st Month's Rant

“Oh my God! I cannot believe I was ever in love with you!” Raina yelled.

“Bitch I’m the best thing that ever happened to you!” JD yelled back.

“Who are you calling a bitch? Name one thing your sorry ass ever did for me!”

“I gave you this good dick!” He responded chuckling. His eyes were blank, emotionless, not a trace of love left. Raina stared deep into his eyes, her blood boiling inside her body. She begins swiftly walking toward the door, snatching her set of keys from its hook and stomping her way toward the trunk of a 2003 Audi A4 Convertible, the only car she’d ever had and has been pushing for the last 10 years. She reaches into the trunk to retrieve the tire iron resting beneath boxes of unsold merchandise. “What the fuck do you think you’re about to do?” He yells to her from the doorway. She marches toward his Grabber Blue 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E just as her father is pulling up. Derrick, quickly realizing that something is wrong, hops out of his car to approach his visibly angry daughter.

“Raina! Stop this! Whatever it is isn’t worth going to jail.”

“Dad! I’ve been so good to him! All he does is run around with females who only cares about his ride! He didn’t have shit when I met him! I helped him get his shit together! And after all that, he doesn’t support me in anything, he eats my food, lives at my house and doesn’t help with anything! I deserve better!" Raina yells as her words begin to turn into tears.

Derrick notices the fresh bruising and swelling around his daughter’s shoulder and the side of her face, then looks up into the doorway at JD.

“Mr. Blake, she’s tripping again! You already know how women are!” He shrugs with a slight grin. Derrick speed walks toward JD clinching his fists. Fear flashes in JD’s eyes as he watches Derrick approach him. He takes a few slow small steps back.

“Raina!” Derrick yells toward his daughter as he continues to march. “Stay right there. Do NOT move!” He pushes his way into the door, slamming it behind him. “Check this out nigga. I’ve seen your type a thousand times. You run around only taking from the world because you’ve failed to recognize what you have to offer to it. My daughter stood by you when your sorry ass didn’t even have a job or ride, even against my wishes. Now you think you can play games with her and me? You have got to be out your rabbit ass mind if you think I will stand by and allow this. I know that car is in her name because you couldn’t qualify for it yourself. So, this is what you’re about to do. Hand over those keys right now, and if I find out that you so much as traveled down this street to bother my daughter, I will personally put hot lead between your eyes in the middle of a Wal-Mart Store. I’ve lived a good life but will quickly sacrifice mine so my daughter can live hers without being torn down by the likes of you. Now tell me if there is any part of what I just said that you don’t understand... Don’t take the grave risk of testing me, son."

JD, angry at the thought of giving up his whip, shifts his eyes at the door and back to Derrick. He slowly reaches into his jacket. Before he could fully pull out what he was holding, Derrick serves up the hardest blow of his life to JD’s face. JD falls and flings a Ruger SR40c handgun to the floor. Out cold.

“I knew your dumb ass would do something else stupid.” Derrick says as he steps over JD to retrieve the gun, covering his hand with a sleeve. He walks to the door to yell to Raina. “Call the police baby girl. My phone is in my car.”

“What happened daddy?” She asked, with tears still in her eyes.

“No worries. You’re fine and that’s all that matters. You’re right, you do deserve better. Congrats on getting your new car." He hands her the Mustang keys. "I know how independent you are, but I’ll take over those payments. Just do me a favor, sweetheart?”

“What’s that?” She looked expectantly.

“Choose better men.” He smiles and she returns one. “You won’t have to worry about him ever again.” And she didn’t.

THE END
